Meet Our Staff

Alan Ray

Senior Pastor

Pastor Alan Ray is married to the former Melinda Hope of Ashland, Virginia, who is a graduate of Averett University and employed with Henrico County Schools. They are the proud parents of Jennifer Blevins, a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, who works with Edmentum education in Baltimore, MD, and Lindsay, who graduated from the John Leland Center for Theological Studies and is currently serving as the Pastor to Students at Ridge. They are also the proud grandparents of Isaac, who was born in December of 2012, Mackenzie, who was born in September of 2015 and Paige, who was born in October of 2018.

He is a graduate of Furman University, in Greenville, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Robert Coffman

Music Director

Robert Coffman works with the Worship leadership team in planning meaningful worship experiences. He leads our choir ministry and our congregational singing. Bob is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master’s degree in Education. He brings over 20 years experience as a choral director to his ministry with us. Robert recently retired as a Music Teacher in Henrico County Public Schools.

Associate Pastor

Jonathan Howard was born on the West Coast but grew up on the East Coast as an Army brat, but as the son of a Baptist preacher, he’s been part of the church throughout his whole life. He’s served as everything from volunteer greeter to teenage pastor for a day to small group leader to virtual campus pastor to youth pastor to associate pastor. Along the way, he earned a Master’s of Project Management from Western Carolina University and a Master’s of Divinity from Liberty University. He also completed a church-planting internship, an 8-year chaplaincy at a classical Christian school, and eight years teaching Bible, Latin, and Logic to middle and high schoolers. Most recently, before coming to the Richmond area, he served as Youth Minister at Crozet Baptist after his ordination by the Sandy Creek Baptist Association in central North Carolina. In early 2023, Ridge Baptist Church in Henrico called Jonathan to full-time ministry as their associate pastor. Jonathan is passionate about God’s call on his life to challenge the universal church to repentance and reform so we can reach new generations of not-yet-believers.
