"Gospel Mass"
The choirs of Shady Grove UMC (Mechanicsville) and Ridge Baptist Church will present Robert Ray's "Gospel Mass" during the 10:30 Celebration Worship. Child care is provided.

The Gospel Mass was composed in 1978, and premiered at the University of Illinois by the University's Black Chorus. The piec is Ray's interpretation two thousnad years of liturgical tradition with contemporary music of the Afircan-American church. Each movement creates within the listener a different feeling about worship. It is Dr.Ray's hope to "experience the sense of joy and celebration that generally felt in true African-American worship."
